Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement for the River Colne website

This statement applies to www.rivercolnewatford.co.uk

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. That means you should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen

  • Navigate most of the site using just a keyboard

  • Use screen readers to access most content

  • Adjust colours, contrast levels and fonts to suit your needs

We’ve also aimed to make the text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. Based on the latest accessibility monitoring

report (October 2025), the following issues have been identified and are not yet rectified:

• The website does not reflow correctly at 400% zoom, requiring both horizontal and vertical scrolling

   to view content

• Content within dropdown menus overflows the screen at high zoom and cannot be scrolled

• Content triggered on hover or focus cannot be dismissed easily or reliably

• Poor colour contrast on hover across multiple interactive elements, including form error messages

• Some text is very small and may be difficult to read

• Underlined text is used for emphasis and may be confused with links

• The page lacks a first-level heading

• Some links are not descriptive, not visible to screen readers, or do not receive keyboard focus

• Links use redundant title text or duplicate destination labels

• Icons and buttons are missing accessible text, including navigation and video controls

• Keyboard focus is not visible on certain interactive elements

• Some buttons and icons are too small or closely spaced

• Multiple images and icons have missing, null, or unclear alternative text

• The language attribute is missing or unclear

• Some technical labels used to support screen readers and keyboard navigation are missing or inconsistent,

affecting how interactive content is announced and controlled

We are actively working to address these issues and improve accessibility across the site.
